EP5: No popup for non DRE printers even though workstation print tracking is enabled

Problem Statement:

No popup for non DRE printers even though workstation print tracking is enabled, when using Equitrac Professional 5.  Process Explorer shows the Equitrac dlls are not attached to the applications.

Cause:

This can be caused if, on the workstation, the Equitrac dlls are not in the registry correctly, or the software cannot access the dlls for some reason. 

Answer:

On the workstation, open regedit and verify the equitrac dlls are in the registry correctly. 

These are found here (if it is a 64 bit system you will have the Wow6432Node branch along with the standard branch).    

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows

The key "AppInit_DLLs" should contain the path to the Equitrac dll - for example  "C:\PROGRA~1\Equitrac\PROFES~1\Client\x86\EQDtpSp.dll" or  "C:\PROGRA~1\Equitrac\PROFES~1\Client\EQDtpSpy.dl"

Note - this path must be in the 8.3 naming format as shown above.  Copy and paste this path into the run window and verify the location opens and is accessable.  If this value is missing, you can enter it manually or uninstall and reinstall the print client.
