When testing cards or configuring Equitrac / Nuance / Kofax ID card readers, what tool should be used?
Answer:
Kofax provides the Reader Maintainer software, with capabilities that include the following:
- Test to see if a card reader is functional
- Test the values read by the card reader
- Enable or disable the card reader to beep when a card is read
- Configure a USB card reader to work with Epson, Fuji-Xerox, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba or Xerox MFPs
- Configure a USB card reader to work with a PC (for use with Release Station, Deposit Station, etc.)
- Limit the card reader to a specific card type (to minimize reading other cards included in a wallet)
- Load custom configurations
- Update firmware
The Kofax Reader Maintainer (KRM) is for use with the current ID card readers, including the following:
