Unable to add a Device to a ShareScan 5.x Manager

Problem Statement:

Unable to add a scan device to the ShareScan Manager.

Cause: This may happen if the device is not properly resolving the IP and hostname in DNS.

Answer:

NOTE: The following steps should be completed by an authorized IT contact using Windows Best Practices.

Add the Device Name and IP to the HOST file.

  • ) Browse to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
  • ) Right click on the "host" file and open it in Notepad
  • ) Type " "
  • example: 127.0.0.1     localhost

    4.) Click "Save"
