Creating a PDF does not retain background colors and images.

Problem:

When creating a PDF from a Microsoft Word document or from a web page within Microsoft Internet Explorer, the resulting PDF does not retain the background colors and images.

Cause:

Solution:

Enable the "Print background colors and images" option by following the directions below:

For Microsoft Word 2003 & 2007:

For Microsoft Word 2010:

  1. Go to the "File" menu.
  2. Click "Options".
  3. Click "Display".
  4. Enable the option to "Print background colors and images".

For Microsoft Internet Explorer:

  1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
  2. Click "Internet Options".
  3. Go to the "Advanced" tab.
  4. Scroll down to the "Printing" section under the "Settings" pane.
