Creating a PDF does not retain background colors and images.
Problem:
When creating a PDF from a Microsoft Word document or from a web page within Microsoft Internet Explorer, the resulting PDF does not retain the background colors and images.
Cause:
This will occur when the "Print background colors and images" setting within Microsoft Word or Microsoft Internet Explorer is not enabled.
Solution:
Enable the "Print background colors and images" option by following the directions below:
For Microsoft Word 2003 & 2007:
- Go to the "File" menu and choose "Print".
- Click the "Options..." button.
- Enable the option to "Print background colors and images".
For Microsoft Word 2010:
- Go to the "File" menu.
- Click "Options".
- Click "Display".
- Enable the option to "Print background colors and images".
For Microsoft Internet Explorer:
- Go to the "Tools" menu.
- Click "Internet Options".
- Go to the "Advanced" tab.
- Scroll down to the "Printing" section under the "Settings" pane.
- Enable the option to "Print background colors and images".
