PaperPort crashes on startup and returns an Application Error message.

Problem:

When PaperPort is started, it will load itself and the documents in the folders. Immediately after loading the files, it will crash and return the following error message: The instruction at 0xXXXXXXXX referenced memory at 0xXXXXXXXX. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program.

Resolution:

Follow the steps outlined in the below article to cleanly uninstall PaperPort:

Upon completing these steps, reinstall PaperPort.
