Can we enable Javscript inside of Nuance power PDF 2.0 after an customized deployment with it disabled

Question:

Can we enable Javscript inside of Nuance power PDF 2.0 after an customized deployment with it disabled?

Information:

During a customized package installation of Power PDF, the user must select whether to enable or disable JavaScript. To operate in a secure environment, we recommend selecting the disable option. While Disabling JavaScript will provide the highest level of security available, it will also prevent certain features from working.

Some features that will not work if JavaScript is disabled are:

  • Calculations in buttons and other form controls.
  • Dropdown lists and buttons in XFA forms.

The option to enable or disable JavaScript can be adjusted in the application's preferences after installation, as certain components are installed or not installed according to the user's installation choice, If JavaScript was enabled during the Customized .mst or inside of a published package.

Answer:

If this option is disabled on the customization kit however, and then published into a folder when it was deployed from, it will not include the component of the software for Java.   We can not recheck the checkmark by a registry change or by manually trying to enable it as  it was grayed out and it restricts our avbility to re-enable this option.

If that the organization requires to enable java script, we will have to require that the software be extracted, freshly from "Power PDF Advanced Volume.exe"

and then Navigating to the folder "C:\\Tools\CustomKit" to proceed to perform the customization steps again and follow through the steps laid out in our documentation for the Network Installation Guide, contained in the Doc subfolder.
