Login and connection issues with SafeCom 2 Port Controller after Xerox Base Firmware upgrade
Question / Problem:
After applying a firmware update on certain Xerox MFDs, users experience an issue with login and connection issues with the SafeCom 2 Port Controller.
Answer / Solution:
Kofax were made aware in April 2015 of an issue with certain customers having login and connection issues with the SafeCom 2 Port Controllers when connected to Xerox MFD's.
During the investigation, it was determined that the MFD's had been upgraded to a new version of Xerox base firmware. Due to a change in this firmware, SSL v3 was disabled and was replaced with TLS.
The SafeCom 2 Port Controller does not support TLS Communication. As this hardware has reached end of support, there are no plans to introduce TLS support to this hardware.
To workaround this issue, you will need to downgrade the Xerox base firmware to a version that supports SSL v3, or replace the SafeCom 2 Port controller with either the SafeCom GO for Xerox embedded application or the Kofax Ethernet Card Reader.
Note: Additional licensing may be required. Please contact your Kofax sales representative for further details.
