How to enable Verbose Logging for WebDAV Protocol in eCopy ShareScan v5

Information:

This article provides information on how to enable and disable Verbose Logging for the WebDAV protocol in eCopy ShareScan v5.

To enable Verbose Logging for the WebDAV protocol:

  1. Open a Windows Explorer window and browse to the following location:
    • "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nuance\ShareScan\Connectors\ExchangeMail\Data" on Windows XP and Server 2003.
    • "C:\ProgramData\Nuance\ShareScan\Connectors\ExchangeMail\Data" on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008.
  2. Open the file named "ExchangeMailStore.xml" in Windows Notepad.
  3. Make the following edit:

    • Original text:
    • Change to: C:\Temp
  4. Go to the Windows Explorer window and verify if the folder "C:\Temp" exists.  If not, then create a new folder called "C:\Temp".
  5. Within the eCopy ShareScan Administrator Console, press the "Stop" button to stop the ShareScan Manager.
  6. Within the eCopy ShareScan Administrator Console, click the "X" button in the top right corner to exit.
  7. Launch the eCopy ShareScan Administrator Console.
  8. Within the eCopy ShareScan Administrator Console, press the "Start" button to start the ShareScan Manager.
  9. Reproduce the issue until the error is returned.
  10. Open a Windows Explorer window and browse to: "C:\Temp".
  11. Within this folder, a new debug file should be created called "ShareScan_WebDavLog.txt".  Please provide this file as an attachment to the support incident.
  12. Open a Windows Explorer window and browse to the following location:
    • "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nuance\ShareScan\Connectors\ExchangeMail\Log" on Windows XP and Server 2003.
    • "C:\ProgramData\Nuance\ShareScan\Connectors\ExchangeMail\Log" on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008.
  13. Within this folder, a new log file should be created called "ExchangeMail.log".  Please provide this file as an attachment to the support incident.

Note:  It is highly recommended to disable the verbose logging once the "ShareScan_WebDavLog.txt" file has been generated and submitted to Nuance.

To disable Verbose Logging for the WebDAV protocol:

  1. Open a Windows Explorer window and browse to the following location:
    • "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nuance\ShareScan\Connectors\ExchangeMail\Data" on Windows XP and Server 2003.
    • "C:\ProgramData\Nuance\ShareScan\Connectors\ExchangeMail\Data" on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008.
  2. Open the file named "ExchangeMailStore.xml" in Windows Notepad.
  3. Make the following edit:

    • Original text: C:\Temp
    • Change to:
  4. Within the eCopy ShareScan Administrator Console, press the "Stop" button to stop the ShareScan Manager.
  5. Within the eCopy ShareScan Administrator Console, click the "X" button in the top right corner to exit.
  6. Launch the eCopy ShareScan Administrator Console.
  7. Within the eCopy ShareScan Administrator Console, press the "Start" button to start the ShareScan Manager.
