Dropbox PaperRiver connector for ShareScan - API issues - Internal KB

INTERNAL ONLY

On the 28th June 2017, Dropbox will cease access using version 1 of their API.

The CloudPack connector for eCopy ShareScan currently uses the Dropbox v1 API.

In order for customers to continue to use the Dropbox component of the CloudPack connector, an update will be required.

Please check below on how you may be affected:

  • If you do not use the Dropbox connectivity in the CloudPack connector
    • You should not be affected by this Dropbox change.
    • We recommend you update your connectors to ensure that any future use of the Dropbox connectivity does not have problems. You will also benefit from any other updates made to the connector since you installed, including newly added OneDrive for Business / Office 365 support.
  • If you use the CloudPack connector in conjunction with the Paper River cloud-hosted token server (https://cloudpack.paper-river.co.uk)
    • You must upgrade your connectors before the 23rd June.
    • We will be switching off support for v1 of the Dropbox API at 16:00 UTC (5pm BST, 12pm EDT, 9am PDT) on the 23rd June.
    • Once we have switched over to V2 of the Dropbox API on the Hosted Token Server, new users will receive tokens that are only compatible with the updated CloudPack connector. If you have not updated your CloudPack connector by this time, new users will be unable to login to the connector.
    • Existing users will be able to continue to use the older version of the CloudPack connector until June 28th, at which point the Dropbox connectivity of the old CloudPack connector version will cease to work.
    • After you have updated your CloudPack connector installs, existing user tokens will automatically be updated to the latest API version next time the user attempts to use the connector, as long as the tokens have not expired.
  • If you use the CloudPack connector in conjunction with an on-premise installation of the CloudPack Token Server
    • You must upgrade your CloudPack Token Server before the 28th June.
    • You must upgrade your connectors before the 28th June.
    • On the 28th June, new users will be unable to create their Dropbox authentication token to work with the CloudPack connector
    • On the 28th June, the Dropbox connectivity of existing CloudPack connector installations will cease to work.
    • We recommend updating all connectors first, as the latest CloudPack connector can work with old tokens, and new tokens.
    • Once all connectors have been updated, update the on-premise token server
    • After you have updated your CloudPack connector installs, existing user tokens will automatically be updated to the latest API version next time the user attempts to use the connector, as long as the tokens have not expired.
