Image Compression in ShareScan 5.x and 6.x
Everything you wanted to know about Image Compression in ShareScan
The following Compression options exist in ShareScan.
- Medium:
- Best picture and graphics quality
- Minimal compression, single layer.
- Mixed Raster Content (MRC) is not used.
- DPI is not decreased. Used for best quality.
- High:
- In BW mode MRC is not used DPI is not decreased.
- GrayScale and Color modes, MRC compression is used using decreased DPI.
- JPEG is used for color images
- TIFF G4 is used for BW images.
- Results in smaller files than Medium compression, balancing size, quality, speed and performance.
- Expert:
- In BW mode MRC is not used, DPI is not decreased.
- GrayScale and Color modes, MRC compression is used using decreased DPI.
- JPEG2000 is used for color images,
- JBIG2 is used for BW images.
- Even smarter and more aggressive compression, in average decreases the size by roughly 30%, but also decreases the speed of compression.
- Custom: (ShareScan 5.2 SP2 and later)
- Color and Grayscale Image compression can be selected (JPEG vs. JPEG2000)
- Image compression can be selected via slider (100 is best quality and biggest file size)
- B&W compression can be selected
- TIFF G4 - lossless, larger files, faster processing
- JBIG2 - lossless, smaller files, slower processing
