The error "This implementation in not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms" appears when using eCopy ShareScan Administration Console.
Issue:
The error "This implementation in not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms" appears when using eCopy ShareScan Administration Console.
Cause:
This is due to the registry setting "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\fipsalgorithmpolicy" being set to "1".
Workaround:
This value must be set to "0" for the Administration Console to work correctly. The ShareScan server (without Administration Console) can be run with this registry setting set to '1'.
Because the Adminstration Console is only necessary for configuration related activities, a couple of workaround exist:
- Temporarily set the registry key to "0", run the Administration Console, make any necessary configuration settings, close Administration Console, and set the value to "1" again.
- Have a dedicated VM for running the Administration Console which is only used for ShareScan configuration. It can be otherwise very locked down (i.e. no connection to the Internet, etc.) and be powered down when not being used for ShareScan configuration purposes.
