Xerox ScanStation Driver Timeout is Too Short

Article # 3016875 - Page views: 221

Problem Statement

Using ShareScan ScanStation with the Xerox TWAIN driver (created by Nuance) the scan times out too quickly for users causing an inability to re-start scans inside an active scan session.  By default the timeout value is 30 seconds.

If time longer than 30 seconds is required, this can be set in the registry.

WARNING: Follow Microsoft recommended process to back up registry before making any modifications. Improper modification of the registry may result in serious damage.

Set this registry value to a higher than 40 seconds, for example, to increase the timeout value required for the particular use case.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nuance\ShareScan\ScanStation\ (32-bit OS)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Nuance\ShareScan\ScanStation (64-bit OS)

Value name: XeroxDialogTimer

Value type: REG_DWORD

Value: time in seconds for how long a message coming from the Xerox TWAIN driver stays on screen.

If there is no such registry value then the default 30 seconds will be used.

Other timeout values may need to be modified to accomodate a longer driver timeout. These can be found in the ShareScan Admin Console inside the timer's option found in the ribbon on the top of the interface.
