Overview

Kofax Analytics for MarkView is an extension of Kofax MarkView that produces a graphical business intelligence dashboard based on near real- time data collected during the batch processing workflow. Kofax Analytics for MarkView presents finance process data in graphical and interactive reports.

Troubleshooting Steps

If you encounter an issue with Kofax Analytics for MarkView, please review the following steps:

Logging

Enable Debug Logging

  • Kofax Analytics for MarkView Workflow Agent:
    1. On the Kofax Capture/KTM Workstation
      1. Open <AgentFolder> (the default location for the agent folder is usually in a path like: C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\Capture\Bin\ directory or \Bin\Agent directory) - NOTE: You may need to do this as Admin, or you may need to open Notepad as Admin and then open the files for changing). 
      2. Backup the KMWA.Agent.dll.config file.
      3. Edit the KMWA.Agent.dll.config file.
      4. Find the log4net configuration (<log4net>…</log4net>)
      5. Find the line <root> <level value="INFO" />
      6. Change the level from INFO to DEBUG.
      7. Save.
      8. Restart all opened KC modules.
  • Kofax Analytics for MarkView Workflow Service
    1. On the Kofax Capture/KTM Workstation
      1. Open <WinService> directory (as chosen when you did the initial install of the Workflow Service)
      2. Backup the KMWA.WindowsService.exe.config
      3. Edit the KMWA.WindowsService.exe.config
        1. Find the log4net configuration (<log4net>…</log4net>)
          1. Find the line <root> <level value="INFO" />
          2. Change the level from INFO to DEBUG
          3. Save.
          4. Restart the Kofax for MarkView Analytics Service (from the windows services [services.msc] Middle Tier Application Server Logging WebLogic ;
  • Kofax Insight Logging
    1. To enable logging for Insight WCF Service, which can provide additional underlying information please take the steps below:
      1. Navigate to the WcfDataService directory on the Insight Server (Example: C:\Program files\Kofax\Insight 5.x.x\WcfDataService\).
      2. Backup the web.config file.
      3. Open the web.config file for editing.
      4. Find the line containing "Insight.DataProcessing.Readers.IsLoggingEnabled"
      5. Set the value to TRUE.
      6. Right click on the report that is causing problems, and select Logging.
      7. Right click on the report and select RESET.

 

 

Disable Debug Logging

  1. Kofax Analytics for MarkView Workflow Agent:
    1. On the Kofax Capture/KTM Workstation:

      3. Edit the KMWA.Agent.dll.config file.

             <level value="DEBUG" />
      6. Change the level from DEBUG to INFO.
      7. Save. 
      8. Restart all opened KC modules.
  2. Kofax Analytics for MarkView Workflow Service
    1. On the Kofax Capture/KTM Workstation
      1. Open <WinService> directory (as chosen when you did the initial install of the Workflow Service)
      2. Backup the KMWA.WindowsService.exe.config file. 
      3. Edit the KMWA.WindowsService.exe.config file.
      4. Find the line <root> <level value="DEBUG" />
      5. Change the level from DEBUG to INFO.
      6. Save.
      7. Restart the Kofax for MarkView Analytics Service (from the Windows Services [services.msc] Middle Tier Application Server Logging
  3. Kofax Insight Logging
    1. To enable logging for Insight WCF Service, which can provide additional underlying information please take the steps below:
      1. Navigate to the WcfDataService directory on the Insight Server (Example: C:\Program files\Kofax\Insight 5.x.x\WcfDataService\).
      2. Backup the web.config file.
      3. Open the web.config file for editing.
      4. Find the line containing "Insight.DataProcessing.Readers.IsLoggingEnabled"
      5. Set the value to FALSE.
      6. Then right click on the report that is causing problems, and select Logging.
      7. Then Right click on the report and select reset

 

Log File Location:

File location: All MarkView Components - Log File Locations

The Workflow Agent. and WorkFlow Service both log to the Application Event Viewer Log

The Following Log files Exist for Kofax Insight:

  • WcfDataService.log
    • Info on services used to get data from MetricsMart to dashboardard service
    • Insight Authentication/administration service log
  • DataProcessing.log
    • Logs dashboard queries to MetricsMart to get data for dashboard display
  • InsightServer_WinApp.log
    • Execution details for data load
  • Scheduler.log
    • Information on scheduled data load execution
