MarkView All Components – Mapping Active Directory Groups to AUSS

Summary

13271

Applies To

  • ERP System: All
  • MarkView Version: 7.0 and later

Behavior

  • AUSS Profiles are used to map Active Directory Groups.
  • Active Directory groups can be nested (a group can be a ‘member of’ another group); but the nested groups are not automatically linked to the AUSS Profile.

Known Causes

  • AUSS Profiles map MarkView roles and groups to Source Groups. Nesting an Active Diretory Group does not automatically add the Source Group to the AUSS Profile.

Resolution

  • The nested (or child) group in Active Directory must be explicitly matched to a MarkView Source Group, and the Source Group needs to be added to the relevant AUSS Profile(s). AUSS synchronization will then need to be run to update the users.
  • Create a Source Group in Markview
    • On MarkView Home -> Administration -> AUSS Mapping Administration
    • Click on Source System Groups (tab)
    • Click on Add/Remove Source Groups...
    • Create the Source Group
  • Add the Source Group to the AUSS Profile.
    • The parent group should already be linked to an AUSS Profile.
    • The child/nested group can also be linked to the same AUSS Profile.
      • On MarkView Home -> Administration -> AUSS Mapping Administration
      • Open the Profile the parent group is mapped
      • On the Source Group tab (right-hand side) click on ‘Add/Remove’
      • On the ‘Find source system groups from’ select Active Directory
      • Click on Apply Filter(s)
      • Add the child/nested source group
      • Click on ‘OK’ to add the Group
      • Click on ‘OK’ to Save the changes
      • Run AUSS to re-synchronize the users
    • An alternative configuration approach is to add the child/nested Source Group to a different AUSS profile in MarkView.
      • In MarkView - Ensure the AUSS Profile is mapped to the Source Group
        • On MarkView Home -> Administration -> AUSS Mapping Administration
        • Open the AUSS Profile and add the child/nested source group (as described in the section above)
  • In Active Directory add the users to the child/nested group
    • Open Active Directory Users and Computers
    • Open the User Profile
    • Click on ‘Member Of’
    • Click on ‘Add’
    • Run AUSS to re-synchronize the users.
