Slow Performance in Accounting Details / DFM / PDFM

Article # 304062 - Page views: 96

Applies To

  • ERP System: Oracle, SAP
  • MarkView Version: MarkView 5.0 and higher

  • The Accounting Details (ACD) markup, which is also known as Distribution Form Markup (DFM) in some earlier versions of MarkView, may exhibit degraded performance in loading, creating, or updating distibution lines.

Known Causes

Statistics should be gathered regularly on the MarkView schema objects. To gather statistics on MarkView, for any Oracle database version 8i or higher, you should use the DBMS_STATS package. (Please note that the DBMS_Utility / Analyze method has been deprecated for 8i and higher, and Oracle specifically recommends using DBMS_Stats.)

If statistics have not been gathered for MarkView, or if statistics for some objects have been deleted or do not exist, the Cost-Based Optimizer (CBO) may not be able to determine the optimal execution plan for some queries. Without sufficient data to determine the optimal plan, the CBO may use the wrong index for some SQL queries.

Note: During an upgrade or new install of the DFM, objects can be dropped / recreated, and so the stats for those objects may not exist. For that reason, if you have recently installed or upgraded the DFM, you should gather stats on MarkView
