Behavior

  • The business wants to limit the users who are able to set Alternate User Assignments.
  • The same process apply to other menu entries.

Known Causes

  • System configuration to meet business processes.

Resolution

  • MarkView grants access to menu entries User Groups. Access to a Menu entry can be granted to several groups.
  • MarkView users gain access to the menu by being members of a User Group with the granted access to the Menu entry.
  • To Modify access to a Menu entry change the access group On MarkView Home -> Administration -> Module Admin -> Menu Item Group Auth
  • Steps to grant access to Alternate User Assignments.
    • Decide the group to Grant the access
      • Create a new group or use ALTERNATE USER ADMINISTRATION
      • To create a new group go to MarkView Home -> Administration -> MarkView Admin -> User Groups -> Add and create a new group (i.e. ALTERNATE USER MANAGERS)
    • Add users to the group.
      • On MarkView Home -> Administration -> MarkView Admin -> User Groups -> ALTERNATE USER ADMINISTRATION (or ALTERNATE USER MANAGERS depending on the group you chose earlier) -> Details -> User Group Members -> Add.
      • Then add the user who needs access to the menu.
    • Grant the Group access to the menu
      • On MarkView Home -> Administration -> Module Admin -> Menu Item Group Auth
      • Scroll down to the User Admin menu / Alternate User Assign / All Users line
      • Click on ‘Update’ on that row
      • Change the Group Name in the LoV to the Group you wish to grant the access (ie. ALTERNATE USER ADMINISTRATION or ALTERNATE USER MANAGERS)
    • Click on Update (to save the changes)
    • To grant or revoke other users access to the Alternate User Assignments add or remove them from the Group access (ie. ALTERNATE USER ADMINISTRATION or ALTERNATE USER MANAGERS)
      Note-Icon.png Note: The MODULE ADMINISTRATOR group has access to the menu entry. Therefore MarkView Administrators already have access and don’t need to be added any extra groups
    • Test the changes
      • Login as a user who should no longer have access to the Alternate User Assignment (If the user is already log into MarkView click on the Home menu entry to refresh the menu)
      • Go to MarkView Home -> Administration -> User Administration
      • Confirm the Alternate User Assignment menu entry is not present.
      • Repeat the same steps for a user who should have access
      • Confirm the menu entry is present
