MarkView Bar Code Server - Bad Filename : processing halted on Bar Code Server Problems

Behavior

After switching our bar code server from FTP to HTTP protocol the Bar Code Server was unable to find bar codes on documents.

The following error is reported in the log file: Bad Filename: processing halted

Resolution

If you have already established that you are using the correct WorkStation Serial Number based on the Open Volume (see installation and configuration documentation) test file download using a browser like IE. If the protocol is supported it may be necessary to reinstall the current version of MV Bar Code Server. (Always check to see if a later version is supported in your environment.)

1. copy install files to the server
2. back up markview.ini
3. deactivate and exit bar code server
4. run MV BCS setup and install
5. run MV BCS
6. verify that it still works with FTP
7. deactivate and set workstation serial number
8. activate MV BCS
