Kofax Capture - Data Export Server unable to export double-byte characters

• MarkView Version: 6.5 and later.

Behavior

Data such as Vendor details containing double-byte characters - for example Simplified Chinese characters or Greek characters - appears in the output files of Data Export Server (e.g. Vendors.txt) as strings of ? (e.g. "????????") instead of the correct characters.

Known Causes

The output file for the Data Export Server needs to be saved in UTF8 format.

Resolution

• Update the .xsl file for the Data Export Server instance - e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\MarkView Data Export Server\getVendorSitesAll2tsv.xsl
• Change encoding="windows-1252" to encoding="UTF8"
• Restart the Data Export Server service
