Kofax Capture - Enable debug mode to capture the TIF and XML data from KCEC-MarkView

• Kofax Capture version 8.0 and above.

Steps to enable debug mode for Capture:

These steps will keep the temporary files that are used to create MarkView Documents from Kofax Capture on the Scan Station for troubleshooting purposes:

1. Create the following string value in the registry on the machine where Kofax Connector Export Connector for Markview (KCEC-MV) is installed
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Kofax Image Products\Ascent Capture\3.0\KCEC Preserve Folder = "1"
   • If using a 64-bit version of Windows, you need to use the Wow6432Node, so the path will be:
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Kofax Image Products\Ascent Capture\3.0\KCEC Preserve Folder = "1"
   • If the value is set to 1, then data transferred from Kofax to MarkView is saved in a GUID-named subfolder under the user's TEMP directory, for example: {2a5b3073-765d-42ab-9380-1f48f83f01f3} under the %TEMP% directory.

Please Note that this is the folder defined by the %TEMP% environment variable for the user whose credentials are used to run the Kofax Capture Export service - or, of a user who has run Export run manually from Batch Manager.

2. Bounce the KC related services.
3. When the next batch is scanned the documents will remain in that folder, you can determine which folder is the correct one by checking the "Date Modified" field.
4. Upload the requested files to the support ticket.

Note: To reverse the change, set the value to "0".
