Question / Problem:
How to activate DEBUG Mode in Web Application
Answer / Solution:
To investigate a web application problem, it is helpful to set the log mode to DEBUG.
To activate this mode you need to edit the log.properties file in the Apache TomCat subfolder
...\webapps\wcconfig\pdweb-app\WEB-INF\conf\... . For editing the file, you will need admin access to the server .
The default setting is WARN and should be changed later, because in DEBUG mode a lot of information is stored in the file.
- # level OFF, FATAL, ERROR, WARN, INFO, DEBUG
level = WARN
# level OFF, FATAL, ERROR, WARN, INFO, DEBUG
level = DEBUG
To activate the DEBUG mode, remove the WARN and replace it with DEBUG. Now the TomCat service has to be restarted.
The log file can be found in a standard installation under ...\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 9.0\logs... and is called:
wctrc.year.month.day.log (e.g. wctrc2019.06.06.log), which is also defined in the log.properties file.
After completion of the analysis, the log mode should be reset to the default value and the service restarted.
