Synchronizer fails to update repository after Git's 'master' branch renamed to 'main'

Article # 3032354 - Page views: 66

Question / Problem:

The following error is logged in Synchronizer's log file: 2021-08-16 09:28:25,791 ERROR com.kapowtech.synchronizer.Main - Ref <branchName> already exists.

Answer / Solution:

Git now permits using any branch name rather than the default of 'master'. The new default assigned by Git is 'main'.

To resolve this issue, modify the main branch by setting it back to 'master' and restart Synchronizer.

This is a known issue with RPA and will be addressed in a future release (Bug 1599535).
