*** Archive *** “Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed” error

Question / Problem: 

When attempting to install an export connector we see an “Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed” error. Why?

Answer / Solution: 

In the RegAscSc.exe modified.config file, verify that they DO NOT use a wildcard * in the core services location. Example:
"<add key="CoreServicesLocation" value="https://*:443/TotalAgility/Services/Core" />"
This is what causes the error when trying to install the XML Export Connector.
Replace the wildcard with the KTA APP server name.
