Kofax

I receive a Database error when I open the Kofax TotalAgility (KTA) Builder.

Summary

5353

There are generally 3 reasons why this error occurs.

  1. The account used to logon to SQL does not have access to SQL or insufficent permissions to create databases.
  2. The Data Sources are pointing to the wrong database Instance.
  3. The Registry Keys are pointing to the wrong Data Sources.

To resolve this issue each of these areas must be addressed accordingly.

  1. The account used to login to SQL does not exist or has insufficient privileges.
Please ensure the account you have specified in TotalAgility has full permissions in SQL. Perform a test by logging into SQL and create a test database.
  2. The Data Sources are pointing to the wrong database Instance.
There are 4 Databases that TotalAgility will use for various features within the builder. These are TotalAgility (Main database), Process Intelligence, Event Manager and the Simulator database.
Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator. Under the System DSN tab there will be 4 data sources displayed typically in the names outlined above. You must go through each data source and ensure they point at the correct data source. You can test the connection at the end of the wizard.
  3. The Registry Keys are pointing to the wrong Data Sources.
There are 5 data source registry entries that must reflect the database name specified in the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
    They are:
    • Builder Audit Log Data Source
    • Builder Data Source
    • Finished Jobs Data Source
    • PI Data Source
    • Simulator Data Source

These registry entries can be located at
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE –> SOFTWARE –> Singularity –> Builder

Below is an registry entry example.
    Server=MyDatabaseServerName;Trusted_Connection=Yes;Database=TotalAgility;
