Best Practices for Configuring WebCapture Service Exclusions from Scanning by 3rd Party Security Software

Issue

WebCapture performance could be affected by third-party software.

Best Practices for configuring Kofax WebCapture Service folder and file exclusions from scanning by third-party Security software such as Endpoint Agents, Monitoring software, and Anti-Virus applications.

Solution

Interference by third-party security software such as Endpoint Agents, Monitoring software, and Anti-Virus applications can negatively affect the performance of the Kofax WebCapture Service on a Kofax TotalAgility (KTA) or Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) scan station.  Adding folder and file exclusions in the third-party Security software can resolve issues caused by such interference.

The following Folder exclusions are recommended as Best Practices:

• C:\ProgramData\Kofax
• C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Local\Temp

Note: Unless WebCapture Service was installed to a custom location, all executable files listed below are located in the C:\ProgramData\Kofax\WebCapture folder 

The following Executable File exclusions are recommended as Best Practices:

• Kofax.WebCapture.Host.exe
• Kofax.WebCapture.ScanWorker.exe
