Article # 3031015 - Page views: 127

Question / Problem:

Best Practices for configuring Kofax WebCapture Service folder and file exclusions from scanning by 3rd-party Security software such as Endpoint Agents, Monitoring software, and Anti-Virus applications.

Answer / Solution:

Interference by third-party security software such as Endpoint Agents, Monitoring software, and Anti-Virus applications can negatively affect the performance of the Kofax WebCapture Service on a Kofax TotalAgility (KTA) or Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) scan station.  Adding folder and file exclusions in the third-party Security software can resolve issues caused by such interference.

The following Folder exclusions are recommended as Best Practices:

  • C:\ProgramData\Kofax
  • C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Local\Temp

Unless WebCapture Service was installed to a custom location, all executable files listed below are located in the C:\ProgramData\Kofax\WebCapture folder

The following Executable File exclusions are recommended as Best Practices:

  • Kofax.WebCapture.Host.exe
  • Kofax.WebCapture.ScanWorker.exe

If scanning using the Kofax Software VRS - TWAIN scan source, see KB article #3031009 for additional Kofax VRS folder, file, and file type exclusions
