Kofax TotalAgility 7.x - Total Agility Setup.exe does not open and crashes immediately

Behavior / Question
When trying to update existing KTA 7.3.2. to 7.4, after launching setup.exe in totalagilityinstall -folder, an error is shown that the Setup has stopped working
In eventlog you can see following error:
Application: Setup.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: System.TypeLoadException
Known Causes / Background Example:
Prior upgrade to a new minor KTA version a windows is prompted to manually uninstall the SharePoint components.
It has been seen, that the SharePoint components were uninstalled using KTA 7.4 setup.
This results in issues that files and folder will be removed from:
C:\Program Files\Kofax\TotalAgility
Resolution / Answer
In order to correctly remove the SharePoint components you need to run the setup.exe for the 7.3 SharePoint components and select remove.
After this you should be able to upgrade to KTA 7.4.
