Web Capture Control: Access denied. You must have at least read only access permission on settings ACL

Issue

When loading the Web Capture Control (WCC) at runtime, users are presented with the below error.

Cause

This is caused by the fact the WCC makes a call to retrieve the server settings but the logged-on user doesn't have the required permissions.  The server settings are used in order to initialize the Web Capture Service (WCS) to enable scanning and file import when using the WCC.

Solution

If the WCC will be used to only view documents, the below buttons can be disabled in the WCC to prevent this error.

• File upload
• Add page from file
• Select scanner
• Scan
• Add page from scanner

However, if you need the scan/file upload capabilities of the WCC then you must grant the user Read Only permissions to get the system settings.
