Question / Problem:

How can a field be set to the Windows or Capture user name of the user running Thin Client Validation?

Answer / Solution:

It is not possible to get the Windows or Capture user name in a KTM Thin Client Server (TCS) Validation module in the same manner as in the thick client version of KTM Validation.

KTM TCS is a Web Service that allows users access to a limited version of KTM Validation. This is done by making use of the KTM Validation module thorough the Web Service.

  • The logged in user name in KTM Thin Client is stored in the Batch XValue AC_BATCH_USERNAME. This name can be extracted via script:
    pXDoc.ParentFolder.XValues.ItemByName("AC_BATCH_USERNAME").value
The Batch Xvalues AC_BATCH_USERNAME, AC_BATCH_WINDOWSUSERNAME or AC_BATCH_OPERATORUSERID can be used to access their corresponding Kofax Capture Values, {Operator Name}, {User Name} and {Operator User ID}.
  • If accessing the Windows’s user name directly, it is populated with "NETWORK SERVICE" or the user name that is running the KTM TCS service.
  • If User Profiles is not activated in Capture, AC_BATCH_USERNAME is populated with "NETWORK SERVICE" or the user name that is running the KTM TCS service.
Note that KTM TCS does not provide all the capabilities of the thick client KTM Validation.
