Support for locator

Article # 3041273 - Page views: 33

Issue

I need to extract the value of several Advanced Zone Locator to parse the data from code and then put the code output in a field, I cannot retrieve the AZL output

Solution

Make sure that the Zone is mapped into AZL Subfield and this subfield is mapped into the document field.

By default, in AZL one subfield is created per zone. The subfield has the same name as the zone but contains the prefix SF_.

For example, an OMR group zone called PaymentMethod has a subfield called SF_PaymentMethod. Similarly, the group member zones Check and CreditCard have subfields called SF_Check and SF_CreditCard.

You can add a subfield by following these steps:

  1. Open the locator properties.
  2. Click the Subfields tab.
  3. In the Subfield Definition group, click Add.

A subfield is added with a default name and result type.

  4. Select the newly added subfield and click Rename.

    The name becomes editable.

  5. Enter a name for the subfield using the format SF_<Descriptive Name> and press Enter.
  6. In the Zone/Subfield Mapping group, select the zone to map to the new subfield.
  7. In the Subfield column, select the subfield from the list that you are mapping to the corresponding zone.

Tip Subfields that are defined on the Subfield Definition group and are not mapped to zones on the Zone/Subfield Mapping group, produce no data; delete them.

  8. Open a test document and click Test to test your settings.
  9. Optionally, click Close to close the locator properties window.
  10. Save the changes to your project.

Once a locator is defined, it can be assigned to a field that receives the data.

Some locators, such as the Database Locator, provide more than one data item. For every column for a record in a database, a corresponding subfield is available for the locator. Each subfield can be assigned to an extraction field.

You can assign a locator to a field by following these steps:

  1. Expand the Project Tree and select the class that contains the field to be assigned to a locator.
  2. Optionally, view the class contents if they are not already displayed.

The hidden class contents are displayed.

  3. Select the field in the Project Tree.

The Field properties are displayed in the Details window.

  4. On the Details window, in the General group, select the locator in the list of available locators.
  5. Optionally, assign the appropriate subfield.
