Question / Problem:

When using the Kofax Search and Matching Server, how can a connection error to the load balancer be destinguished from a connection error to a node?

Answer / Solution:

If the KSMS Load Balancer is not able to find a node to handle a request, it will error with the message,

"An error occurred while finding a node. There was no node available."

This is distinct from the message,

"None of the configured fuzzy database servers is available."

When setting up a Remote Fuzzy Database in Project Builder, the Advanced button opens a dialog which allows for listing alternate KSMS hosts which contain the same fuzzy database. When none of the hosts configured in this list respond, then KTM will return the error, "None of the configured fuzzy database servers is available."

If using a load balancer, and no alternate hosts, this message would indicate that the load balancer itself did not respond.
