Question / Problem:

What can cause an issue where the following error occurs when trying to login to KTM Thin Client server?

An error occurred while logging on.  Backend assembly 'KCThinClientBackend' doesn't implement required interfaces.

How can this issue be resolved?

Answer / Solution:

This error can occur if there are too many users connected to the KTM Thin Client server and there are not enough services available.

To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:

1. Locate the web.config file under the ThinClientServer folder

This is usually: 'C:\Program Files\Kofax\Transformation\ThinClientServer'

2. Backup and edit the 'web.config' file, and raise the CustomModuleMinNumber setting to 25 from the default (5).

3. Run IISRESET in an elevated command prompt to restart IIS for the changes to take effect.

This will result in that 25 KTM Thin Client module services are always running, so if a user logs in, there is no need to launch a new one.

Note: The suggested 25 number but this value can be changed depending on the number of users connected into the system.

Product Version
KTM 5.x
KTM 6.x
