Question / Problem:

The ImageViewer in KTM Validation has gone missing, I cannot get it back from the Context Menu.

Answer / Solution:

Customers in the past have been known to inadvertantly delete the Validation settings files which causes the settings to be out of sync and can have bad implications on the KTM Validation module.

There are three locations where Validation saves its data:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kofax\Transformation\Validation
  • C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Kofax\Transformation\Validation
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Kofax\Transformation\Validation

We have discovered that when the registry and XML in the users directory becomes out of sync and the user has opted to float their image in a separate window, the settings become corrupt. This results in the image viewer being completely inaccessible.

Our current theory which should prevent this from happening is if the customer either deletes all three settings, or preserves their settings in the registry and user directories.
