OCR and PDF Export Debug Logging


Question / Problem: 

How to enable Kofax Express 3.x OCR and PDF export debug logging.

Answer / Solution: 

During the course of troubleshooting OCR and/or PDF export issues in Kofax Express 3.x, Kofax Technical support will often request debug logs for analysis.

To enable OCR / PDF Export Debug Logging in Kofax Express 3.x:

  1. Close Kofax Express.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\Kofax Express\bin
  3. Create an empty text file and name it: vrx_ocr.debug
  4. Restart Kofax Express and replicate the OCR/PDF Export issue.
  5. Close Kofax Express.
  6. Collect all the OCRProcess_<nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn>_Debug.log files (where n is a numerical digit) from the \Kofax Express\bin folder and provide them to Kofax Technical Support for analysis.


To end OCR / PDF Export Debug Logging, remove the vrx_ocr.debug file from the \Kofax Express\bin folder.
