Bar Code Filter Rules

Article # 3035766 - Page views: 87

Issue

Bar code filters designed prior to Kofax Express 3.2.0.5 work differently after upgrading to 3.2.0.5 or higher or Kofax Express 3.3

Cause

The old bar code filtering rules and mask options were found to be too ambiguous to provide the necessary filtering accuracy.  The new filtering rules and mask options were implemented in Kofax Express 3.2 Fix Pack 5 and higher.  This changed the behavior of some of the existing masking options.

Solution

The new Bar Code filtering rules are as follows:

  • Any text within quotation marks must match exactly

  • ? = One character of any type must be present to match

  • A = One Alphabetic character must be present to match

  • X = One Alphanumeric character must be present to match

  • 9 = One Numeric character must be present to match

  • ?(5) = Exactly 5 characters (any type) must be present to match (replace 5 with the number of required characters)

  • A(5) = Exactly 5 Alphabetic characters must be present to match (replace 5 with the number of required alphabetic characters)

  • X(5) = Exactly 5 Alphanumeric characters must be present to match (replace 5 with the number of required alphanumeric characters)

  • 9(5) = Exactly 5 Numeric characters must be present to match (replace 5 with the number of required alphanumeric characters)

  • ?(0-3) = Range of characters (any type) that must be present to match (change the minimum and/or maximum values to change the acceptable range)

  • A(0-3) = Range of Alphabetic characters that must be present to match (change the minimum and/or maximum values to change the acceptable range)

  • X(0-3) = Range of Alphanumeric characters that must be present to match (change the minimum and/or maximum values to change the acceptable range)

  • 9(0-3) = Range of Numeric characters that must be present to match (change the minimum and/or maximum values to change the acceptable range)

  • DD = Day of month (0-31)

  • DDD = Day of week (Sun - Sat)

  • MM = Month (01-12)

  • MMM = Month (Jan - Dec)

  • YY = Year (short)

  • YYYY= Year (full)

  • JJJ = Julian day of year (001-366)

  • YYJJJ = Julian date

  • HH = Hour (00-24)

  • hh = Hour (00-12)

  • mm = Minute (00-59)

  • ss = Second (00-59)

  • tt = AM/PM
