Administration Console does not launch when installed as Client on Windows 10 Enterprise

Question / Problem: 

The Kofax VRS Administration Console fails to launch when installed as a Client on Windows 10 Enterprise

This is present across ALL Windows 10 Enterprise Versions 1703/1809/1903.

Answer / Solution: 

The issue occurs when installing the "Kofax VRS.msi" from the Deployment folder from the VRS Server, there are no options to install the MSI in Administrator Rights (even though you are logged on as Local Admin).

To resolve this issue:

  1. Uninstall Kofax VRS client.
  2. Run Cmd.exe "as administrator".
  3. Run the Kofax VRS.msi using the complete UNC path to the Deployment folder on the VRS Server (encapsulate the entire path and filename in quotes).
    Example:
    "\\<hostname>\Deployment\Kofax VRS.msi"
