Fujitsu fi-6800 Scan Sources

Hardware VRS (HVRS) Port

In the lower left corner, below the fan, the fi-6800 scanner has a third-party card slot.  Certain older fi-6800 scanners have a Hardware VRS board (also known as an HVRS or CGA board) installed in the third-party card slot.  When the scanner is connected using the USB port on HVRS board, Windows Device Manager will recognize the scanner as aKofax Fujitsu USB Device and the Fujitsu fi-6800 scan source should be set as the Default scan source in the Kofax VRS Administration Console's Scanner Configuration screen.  The Hardware VRS port uses proprietary drivers that are installed automatically by the Kofax VRS installer.

Native Port

In the center of the lower edge, to the right of the third party slot, is the fi-6800 scanner's native USB port.  Newer fi-6800 scanners only have this single USB port.  When the scanner is connected using its Native USB port, the Hardware VRS board is not utilized and Windows Device Manager recognizes the scanner as Fujitsu fi-6800dj. 

• If the Legacy ISIS driver is installed, the Fujitsu fi-6800-ISIS scan source should be selected as the Default scan source in the Kofax VRS Administration Console's Scanner Configuration screen. 
• Kofax VRS is not certified for use with the PaperStreamIP (ISIS) driver for the fi-6800.

The Fujitsu fi-6800-ISIS scan source does not qualify for Fujitsu OEM VRS 5.x Professional licensing.  When using an fi-6800 scanner equipped with an HVRS board with a Fujitsu OEM version of VRS, connect the scanner via the HVRS port and use the Fujitsu fi-6800 scan source to qualify for Fujitsu OEM VRS 5.x licensing.
