How to import PDF files as 300dpi TIFF images

Cause

When imported PDF files are converted to TIFF images, they are rendered at 200dpi by default.  However, the minimum and maximum dpi can be configured to ensure that all PDF files are rendered at 300dpi during import and conversion to TIFF images.

Solution

To configure PDF Import to render the pages as 300dpi TIFF images:

1. Stop all applications and services that use Kofax VRS / ImageControls
    
2. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Kofax\Vrs
    
3. Create a new text file called ModConfig.ini (if one does not already exist).
    
4. Open ModConfig.ini in a text editor such as Notepad
    
5. Add the following lines (if they do not already exist):

   [KDLWrapper]
   MINRENDERINGDPI=300
   MAXRENDERINGDPI=300
   

6. Save the changes to ModConfig.ini

Additional note 

This procedure can be used for Kofax Express as well. Follow the same steps as above but navigate to the folder C:\ProgramData\Kofax\KofaxExpress instead of folder C:\ProgramData\Kofax\VRS .
