Install Kofax VRS 5.1.2 on a KTA 7.x Workstation to pull VRS licensing from the KTA license
Issue
How to install Kofax VRS 5.1.2 Elite on a Kofax Total Agility 7.x workstation so that it uses the VRS licensing bundled with the KTA license
Solution
A standalone installation of Kofax VRS 5.1.2 Elite does not look to a KTA 7.x license as a source of VRS licensing. Therefore VRS 5.1.2 must be installed in a Server/Client installation so the VRS Client installations on the KTA Workstations can pull the VRS licensing from the KTA License.
To install Kofax VRS 5.1.2 in a Server/Client configuration so it pulls its VRS licensing from the KTA license:
Only use this procedure to install Kofax VRS 5.1.2
This procedure does NOT apply to Kofax VRS 5.1 or 5.1.1. Installing Kofax VRS 5.1 or 5.1.1 as a Server installation on the KTA License server will break the KTA License Service. For the VRS 5.1 and 5.1.1 installation procedure, see:
- On the KTA License Server, install Kofax VRS 5.1.2 as a Server installation by running
VRSServerInstall.bat
from the Kofax VRS 5.1.2 installation media - Once installation has completed, navigate to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\ImgCtls
and share theDeployment
folder - On the KTA Workstation, perform a VRS Client installation by running
Kofax VRS.msi
from the KTA License Server'sDeployment
network shareDo not use a local copy of
Kofax VRS.msi
to install the VRS Client.Running
Kofax VRS.msi
from the network share will ensure that the Client installer picks up the correct Server information. - Run
C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\ImgCtls\bin\KSALicenseUtility.exe
to confirm that the License Utility is able to display the KTA License information, including any VRS licenses that may be bundled with it.
