Delay Loading OEM VRS Scan Source

Issue

Loading an OEM VRS scan source takes over a minute.  The following error may also be displayed:

This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy.
Choose Switch to to activate the busy program and correct the problem.

Cause

This issue can occur if the OEM VRS installation attempts to look for a VRS Elite license on the Kofax Capture License, but a communication issue occurs during the attempt to contact the license server.

Solution

To force OEM VRS to continue to use the OEM licensing and prevent it from looking for a higher-level license on the Kofax Capture license:

1. On the scan station, stop all applications and/or services that use Kofax VRS / ImageControls
    
2. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Kofax\Vrs
    
3. Open KofaxReg.xml in a text editor such as Notepad
    
4. Set the IGNORECAPTURELICENSE value to "1"
    
5. Save the change to KofaxReg.xml
    
6. Restart any applications and/or services that use Kofax VRS / ImageControls.
