Specified License Information is Invalid Error Activating VRS 4.x Professional license in VRS Admin Console

Issue

Attempts to activate a Kofax VRS 4.x Professional license in the Kofax VRS 5.x Administration Console License screen result in the error:

The specified license information is invalid

Cause

Software license activation in Kofax VRS 5.x requires a Kofax VRS 5.x Elite license and is not compatible with Kofax VRS 4.x Professional licenses.  Therefore, a Kofax VRS 4.x Professional license cannot be used to license Kofax VRS 5.x.

Kofax VRS 5.x Elite licenses have the number 5 as the sixth character in the Part Number:

• Desktop-Level:      VP-D005-0001
• Workgroup-Level:  VP-W005-0001
• Production Level:   VP-P005-0001
   

Kofax VRS 4.x Professional licenses have the number 4 as the sixth character in the Part Number:

• Desktop-Level:      VP-D004-0001
• Workgroup-Level:  VP-W004-0001
• Production Level:   VP-P004-0001

Solution

Activate a valid Kofax VRS 5.x Elite license.
