Mimimum number of non-ambiguous characters necessary in an image for Auto Rotate to detect the correct orientation
QAID # 6695 Published
Question / Problem:
What is the mimimum number of non-ambiguous characters necessary in an image for Kofax VRS Auto Rotate to successfully detect the orientation of the image?
Answer / Solution:
For Kofax VRS Auto Rotate to successfully detect the orientation of the image and rotate it accordingly, the image must contain a mimimum of 8 unambiguous characters in 8-point font or higher.
Ambiguous characters can be read as valid characters in two or more orientations. Examples of ambiguous characters: H,I,O,N,S,X,Z,0,1,6,8, or 9.
Unambiguous characters can only be read as valid characters in one orientation. Example of unambiguous characters: B,K,Q,R,J,Y,3,4, or 7.
If an image contains text in two or more orientations, the text in which at least 8 unambiguous characters are detected first will determine how the image will be rotated.
